Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s PurpleStride

Charlotte Gastroenterology & Hepatology had the pleasure of sponsoring and participating in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s PurpleStride Charlotte 2013 5K Run/Walk. The event was held at Marshall Park in uptown Charlotte on Saturday, September 7, 2013. CGH exceeded its fundraising goal of $2,500 and 20 team members by raising $3,610 with a total of 38 members. In addition to individual donations, CGH physicians and staff raised money with jeans day, a Brixx Pizza fundraiser, a penny war, and a raffle. We’re very proud of everyone’s efforts towards the $138,763 raised during PurpleStride 2013 to help fight this terrible disease.

Endoscopic Ultrasound

Endoscopic ultrasound is a minimally invasive procedure that combines endoscopy and ultrasound to produce highly detailed images of the lining and walls of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. These sound wave-produced images are used to determine the cause of symptoms of abdominal pain, or to diagnose or determine the spread of certain types of cancer. Radiofrequency Ablation for Barrett's Esophagus

Radiofrequency ablation is a treatment used for Barrett's esophagus which uses radio waves to kill precancerous and cancerous cells in the Barrett’s tissue.
